About Us
Mumbai’s Leading Centre for Tagore Philosophy

Shahana – Tagore Centre for Indian Music and Culture, a registered charitable trust, is a premier organization involved for 49 years in nurturing and propagating the philosophy and creations of the great Nobel laureate and multifaceted personality, Rabindranath Tagore, among the cultural elite of Mumbai.
Born as a school for Tagore music in 1975, Shahana has evolved to gradually become the Tagore Centre for Indian Music and Culture. Starting as a music school by Bengalis for Bengalis, this evolution has enabled Shahana to reach a multi-lingual audience through its activities.

Our Vision
We believe that Tagore was well ahead of his time. He imbibed and expressed a philosophy of universal humanism that is utterly relevant to today’s fractured world.
He expressed that philosophy through not just his writings but also through the example of his life.
Shahana’s vision is to impact society by holding up his philosophy and bringing expression to its multiple dimensions through its activities, thus inspiring all our stakeholders to elevate their lives.

Our Mission
To reach 1 million stakeholders (audiences, students, partners, sponsor organizations) with Tagore’s message of universal humanism through a multiplicity of channels and activities.
